Playing with guitarist Nathan Ware at The Prado Friday, Sept. 21

Balboa Park is one of the coolest places in San Diego, and it also has one of the better restaurants in town, The Prado.

I’ve been going to The Prado for years and have enjoyed great food and great live music. It’s actually where I met my accordion teacher, the great Lou Fanucchi, who used to play there with guitarist Patrick Berrogain a few years ago.  They’re still hosting live music there, and from time to time I sit in with guitarist Nathan Ware.  Nathan is a guitar teacher at my school Paper Moon Music and together we play a lot of Brazilian tunes, including the more esoteric “choro” genre which is a precursor of samba and bossa nova.  Nathan just returned from the annual Brazil Camp up in northern California, where he studied with the great Brazilian guitarist Alessandro Penezzi.

Join us Friday September 21 from 8 to 11pm in the bar at the Prado!
